Jill Freeze Has Been a Constant Support Throughout Hugh's Career

OXFORD, Miss. (Apr 4, 2024) - Hugh Freeze was visibly moved to tears Wednesday during his first public appearance since resigning as the head football coach at the University of Mississippi.

Freeze, who resigned in July 2017 amidst allegations of NCAA violations, spoke to a small group of reporters at the Oxford University Club. He spoke candidly about his time at Ole Miss, his resignation, and his future plans.

"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have coached at Ole Miss," Freeze said. "It's been a dream come true. But I'm also very disappointed in myself for the mistakes I made."

Freeze was accused of several NCAA violations, including improper contact with recruits and failing to control his program. He denied any wrongdoing but resigned under pressure from the school.

Since his resignation, Freeze has been spending time with his family and working on his faith. He said he is still considering a return to coaching but is not actively seeking a new job.

Freeze's wife, Jill, has been a constant support throughout his career. The couple has been married since 1992 and has three daughters.

"Jill has been my rock," Freeze said. "She's always been there for me, through good times and bad. I'm so grateful for her love and support."
